Lacoste in talks over ‘Crocodile Arena’ rights, says Bursaspor president

Bursaspor president Recep Bölükbaşı has said the Turkish Super Lig football club is close to agreeing a stadium naming rights and shirt sponsorship deal with French clothing company Lacoste.

Bölükbaşı was re-elected to his position at the weekend and the ambitious club is currently entering the final stages of the development of its new home, which has hit the headlines worldwide due to its striking design.

The 45,000-seat stadium is due to open for the 2015-16 Super Lig season and its exterior is designed to be shaped like a crocodile’s body and head, the club’s mascot.

Lacoste, which is renowned for its own green crocodile logo, is said to have been in talks with Bursaspor since March.

Speaking to Turkish media outlet Olay TV Final, Bölükbaşı said: “God willing, (Lacoste) authorities will be in Bursa on May 29. There is an agreement of €35m ($39m) for 10 years. They are also negotiating for advertising on the shirt breast.”
