Kooga touches down in Wales with Scarlets deal

Welsh Pro 12 rugby union team the Scarlets has sealed a three-year kit manufacturing deal with Manchester-based rugby apparel company Kooga.

Under the agreement, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Kooga will supply playing kit, training clothing and off-field wear for the region’s Pro 12, Rugby Champions Cup and LV=Cup campaigns from July 1.

Kooga is part of the JD Group sports retail firm and will also take responsibility for the Scarlets’ retail operations.

Scarlets general manager Jon Daniels said: “As part of the JD Group, Kooga will bring with them a wealth of experience and by taking over the retail store we will ultimately see an improved offering for our supporters. We will also be working alongside Kooga to bring down price points ensuring better value overall for the region’s support.”

Previously, Kooga supplied kits to the Scarlets for a 10-year period ending in 2009. At present it partners English Premiership rugby union teams Gloucester and Worcester and Super League rugby league clubs Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils.
