Irish FA lands airline partner ahead of Euro 2016

Irish airline CityJet has entered into a partnership with the Football Association of Ireland.

The deal names CityJet the official airline partner of the FAI. Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed, although the Irish Independent newspaper claimed the deal would involve a six-figure sponsorship sum.

As part of the deal, CityJet will fly the Irish squad to this summer’s Uefa Euro 2016 national team tournament in France. Supporters who hold season tickets for Ireland’s home matches will also receive a 10-per-cent discount on all CityJet flights.

Pat Byrne, executive chairman of CityJet, said: “CityJet is a pan-European airline with services across the continent, ranging from the Nordic regions down to Italy and a major operation in France, so we look forward to working with the FAI at a time when the world of football focuses on Europe.”

Ireland has been drawn alongside Belgium, Italy and Sweden in Group E at Euro 2016. It will kick off its campaign against Sweden in Paris on June 13.
