Inter Milan goes green with new Moovit partnership

Serie A club Internazionale Milano has signed a new partnership with local transit app Moovit.

As part of the deal, Inter will encourage fans to use the Moovit app to travel to the San Siro stadium, club store and other locations via public transport.

Alessandro Antonello, chief executive of Inter FC, said: “This is an innovative partnership for the club, which will allow us to improve the matchday experience of our fans, from their home to the stadium and from the stadium to their home on the return trip.”

Moovit is a cross-platform mass transit app, which allows users to find out how to get to any destination via public transit. Within the Moovit platform, users can check maps, bus times, service alerts and train schedules in any city.

Samuel Sed Piazza, director of partnerships at Moovit, said: “This collaboration illustrates Inter’s strong commitment to fostering responsible mobility. For Moovit, this commitment also demonstrates the important work we are doing to promote alternative modes of transportation around the world.”

Inter is not the first Italian football club to partner with Moovit. In January 2018, Moovit signed as the ‘Official Global Mobility Partner’ with Serie A rivals AS Roma.

Partnerships with transport apps are becoming more popular at top European football clubs. Last month, LaLiga club Sevilla inked a new deal with Uber, and last year, AS Roma and French Ligue 1 club, Lille Losc Innov, both signed deals with Waze, a GPS-based traffic monitoring app.

Moovit was founded in Israel in 2012, and now operates worldwide. In addition to football clubs, Moovit has also partnered with City of Rio during the 2016 Olympic Games, the Uefa Fan App for Euro 2016, and this year’s Asia Games.
