The council of the International Association of Athletics Federations has voted to allow teams to display the logo of a national sponsor on their kit at next year’s World Championships in Doha.
It will mark the first time that teams have been permitted to pursue kit sponsors for the World Championships.
The tournament will now be treated in the same manner as all other World Athletics Series events next year. As a result, member federations will be permitted to use the same kit for all WAS events including the World Championships.
Member federations wishing to take advantage of the new opportunity will require approval from the IAAF Steering Board. The same sponsor cannot have its logo appear on the kits of more than four member federations.
