Herbalife extends backing of Vietnamese Olympic, Paralympic bodies

Global nutrition company Herbalife has extended sponsorship deals with the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Vietnam Paralympic Committee.

The five-year deals will run until 2021 and have been signed ahead of this year’s Southeast Asian Games and ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Herbalife will provide the two committees with sports nutrition products, nutrition training, awards and incentives to support athletes competing at the two events. The partnership will also provide Vietnamese athletes and coaches with the chance to receive sports nutrition education in the United States.

The agreement will also cover the 2018 Asian Games, the 2019-21 SEA Games, the 2019-21 ASEAN Para Games, and the 2020 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Tran Van Manh, secretary general of the VOC, said: “With the help of Herbalife Nutrition’s high quality nutrition products, Vietnamese athletes have gained sufficient energy and vitality in preparation for international sporting competitions.

“Herbalife Nutrition’s training sessions by their nutrition experts have also helped to equip our athletes with valuable knowledge on developing diets with the balanced nutrition philosophy. This not only helped to improve their physical fitness, it also enabled them to be in their best state of mind to reach their fullest potential at sporting events.”

Vietnam produced its best-ever performance at an Olympic Games with one gold and one silver medal at the Rio 2016 summer event. The country also picked up one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at last year’s Paralympics.

Herbalife first began its nutrition partnership with the Vietnam Sports Administration in 2012.
