US conglomerate General Electric has extended its backing of the Paralympic Games by agreeing to sponsor next year’s edition of the multi-sport event in Rio de Janeiro.
GE has sponsored the past three editions of the Paralympics – the winter Games in Sochi last year and Vancouver in 2010, along with the summer Games in London in 2012.
GE is also a current ‘TOP’ partner of the International Olympic Committee, having extended its deal with the IOC in June 2011 through the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
In addition to its sponsorship of the Paralympic Games, GE will also support the Brazilian Paralympic canoeing team through a partnership with the Brazilian Canoe Federation.
