Gateway wins casino rights to the NFL in Canada

Canadian brand Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has signed as the first Official National Land-Based Casino Partner of the NFL in Canada.

Under the multi-year deal, Gateway will hold rights to use NFL trademarks in Canada to promote their casino properties and activate around key NFL events, including the NFL Draft, Pro Bowl, and Super Bowl.

Gateway’s signature ‘Match Eatery & Public House’, a restaurant and bar brand attached to Gateway casinos, will be the exclusive Presenting Sponsor of the NFL Fantasy App.

As part of the activation, the brand’s casino and food and beverage properties will display interactive game day décor, offer customers opportunities to meet NFL players and alumni and take part in exclusive promotions.

Gateway has several launch events planned this month ahead of 2019 NFL season, including ‘The Official Kickoff Tailgate Party!’ at Gateway locations on August 22 when the Oakland Raiders host the Green Bay Packers in Canada.

Gateway’s NFL Fantasy Football Draft takes place from August 8 to September 6.

Gateway joins US-based casino and resort brand Caesars Entertainment on the NFL’s roster in the casino category.

Earlier this year, the NFL selected Caesars as the first ever Official Casino Sponsor of the NFL with rights to use NFL trademarks in the US and the UK.

Both deals focus on the use of experiential inventory and NFL trademarks.

The NFL does not allow NFL branding on any sports betting products and only permits usage rights in casinos that don’t include sports betting.
