Flamengo signs sleeve deal with Buser ride-sharing app

Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Flamengo has signed a new sleeve and back-of-shirt deal with Brazilian ride-sharing app Buser.

Under the deal, Buser will have branding on the left and right sleeves of Flamengo’s men’s and women’s first team kits, and on the back of Flamengo’s under-20’s first-team kit.

The partnership is a one-season deal that will run until the end of 2019, with an option to extend when the contract expires.

The Buser app – known as ‘Uber for buses’ in Brazil – connects travellers and commuters to charter buses heading to a shared destination, so that the fare can be split between passengers.

Marcelo Abritta, chief executive of Buser, said the sponsorship is part of the app’s national expansion plans.

According to Brazilian market research firm Datafolha, Flamengo is Brazil’s most popular club by number of supporters, with a fanbase of about 37.5 million.
