FIVB crosses the language barrier with Rosetta Stone

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has entered into a partnership with US education company Rosetta Stone.

The deal will run for two years, from January 2015 through 2016.

Under the deal, Rosetta Stone will become the official language-learning partner of the FIVB and will provide the governing body with software to help its referees and staff become proficient in the English language.

Rosetta Stone will also benefit from branding placement at major international FIVB events such as the Beach Volleyball World Championships and the World League Finals. The company will also partner the governing body on various social media campaigns.

In addition, the company will work with the FIVB to design and supply Rosetta Stone-branded uniforms for referees and will provide two language licences to all FIVB national federations.

FIVB athletes, fans and member federations will have access to special offers on Rosetta Stone solutions.

“Volleyball has quickly become one of the most popular sports worldwide and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to help address the need for language learning in the international sports arena,” Eric Ludwig, senior vice-president and general manager for the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Rosetta Stone, said. “Not only will we make a significant impact on how the game is played, this partnership will impact how fans around the world experience matches.”
