Fiba agrees global partnership with TCL

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has today (Thursday) signed a global partnership with Chinese consumer electronics company TCL.

The deal comes into effect immediately and covers all Fiba competitions until December 31, 2019.

TCL will have exclusivity in Fiba’s categories of home appliances including televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and ovens.

The firm will serve as presenting sponsor for the Asian Qualifiers' remaining four windows for the 2019 World Cup, which takes place in China.

TCL will also have commercial rights at next year’s national team tournament, as well as premium brand visibility on the court, and present the player of the game award.

Other sections of the deal include commercial rights for this year’s Women's World Cup.

Fiba secretary general Patrick Baumann said: “TCL is one of the leading global companies from China and we are excited to team up with them to create joint opportunities to promote the biggest basketball competition in the world.”

TCL holds existing basketball partnerships with the Chinese national team as well as the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA.
