FC Köln extends with main sponsor

German Bundesliga football club FC Köln has renewed its partnership with its main sponsor, retail and tourism group Rewe.

The new deal will run until the summer of 2021 after a three-year extension was signed. The previous agreement had been due to expire at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Rewe’s branding will continue to feature on the front of Köln’s shirts as part of the agreement.

The club’s managing director, Alexander Wehrle, said: “Not only did Rewe offer us a fair deal at market value, but they fit exceptionally to the FC brand as a company of the region. The Rewe Group stands for international and modern business with local roots and is well known and loved by our fans. In addition, Rewe has always fully supported us in our social engagement.”

Rewe has forgone its shirt sponsorship on a number of occasions since partnering with the club, most recently during the home match against Hamburg on August 25 when the space was given to the Aktion Mensch initiative.

Rewe is the longest-serving kit sponsor in Köln’s history, having first partnered with the club in 2007.
