FanDuel signs landmark deal with WNBA

The Women’s National Basketball Association has entered into a partnership with fantasy sports gaming company FanDuel.

The deal, the length of which was not disclosed, names FanDuel as the official one-day fantasy partner of the WNBA.

The partnership marks FanDuel’s first deal with a women’s professional sports league and represents the WNBA’s first official one-day fantasy offering.

As part of the deal, WNBA fans will be given the chance to access the league’s official one-day fantasy game, which will allow supporters to compete against others for prizes such as game tickets, unique experiences, merchandise and memorabilia.

The game will be available throughout the entire WNBA regular season and playoffs and will be free to play via FanDuel.com, the FanDuel app and WNBA.com.

The 2017 WNBA season gets underway tomorrow (Saturday). During the first week of the season, fans will receive access to the WNBA Tip-Off Challenge, a series of free-to-play games that will offer prizes.

“We are constantly looking to innovate by finding new opportunities to engage with our passionate fans and introduce the WNBA to wider audiences,” said WNBA president Lisa Borders. “This partnership with FanDuel and our new one-day fantasy game will be a fresh, unique way for fans to further connect with their favourite WNBA players and teams throughout our season.”

FanDuel has been an official partner of the NBA since 2014.
