DraftKings builds portfolio with MLS partnership

Daily fantasy sports company DraftKings has agreed a multi-year partnership with Major League Soccer.

DraftKings becomes the exclusive daily fantasy sports destination of the MLS under a deal which includes the US and Canadian markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, DraftKings will offer exclusive fantasy games and experiences, while gaining premium in-stadium exposure and prominent placement on MLS digital platforms.

DraftKings will partner a number of MLS teams individually, with participating clubs to be announced at a later date.

“The increasingly popular daily fantasy sports space is a proven fan development tool that we’re excited about,” Gary Stevenson, president and managing director of MLS Business Ventures, said. “You’ll see deep integration within our many digital platforms and you’ll see a number of club deals.”

Jason Robins, chief executive of DraftKings, added: “Soccer is an incredibly exciting sport that is underrepresented in daily fantasy and we’re going to change that in a big way.”

The MLS joins Major League Baseball, Nascar, the National Hockey League and Ultimate Fighting Championship among the major North American sports properties to partner DraftKings.
