Doyen Global swoops to sign Neymar

Football superstar Neymar has signed an image-rights agreement with the Doyen Global sports investment group, which will attempt to attract new sponsors and partners for the Brazil forward outside his home country.

Simon Oliveira, who is leading Doyen Global and remains part of David Beckham’s management team, told Bloomberg that Neymar signed a contract through 2017 with the new unit of London-based hedge fund Doyen Group. The agreement makes Neymar the firm’s first client.

“Our primary focus in the first stage will be on building Neymar’s profile in Asia, where we believe there is real potential for growth,” said Oliveira.

The announcement comes after Neymar further enhanced his endorsement portfolio earlier this week by agreeing a two-year deal with confectionary brand Mentos. The 21-year-old also enjoys endorsement deals with Nike, Panasonic, Claro, Terys-pe, Lupo, Guarana Antarctica, Unilever, Volkswagen, Santander and Heliar.

Neymar currently plays for Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A club Santos, but has agreed a deal to join FC Barcelona.
