DHL drives rugby presence with Canadian national team

Global logistics company DHL has announced a sponsorship deal with the Rugby Canada governing body ahead of the national team’s participation in the 2015 World Cup.

Under the agreement, the terms of which were not disclosed, the DHL logo will be displayed on Canada’s senior men’s and women’s 15s and sevens teams as they prepare and compete for both the 2014 Women’s World Cup and 2015 Men’s World Cup, as well as the 2016 summer Olympic Games.

DHL will also provide international shipping services for Canada’s men and women’s national teams.

DHL will ship kit, exercise and scrummaging equipment to all Canada matches internationally and also support Rugby Canada’s commercial activities, shipping merchandise to Canadian stores and stadiums. Additionally, it will help to fund Rugby Canada’s development programs through financial support.

The Rugby Canada agreement enhances DHL’s established presence in rugby union. It will serve as the official logistics partner of the 2015 World Cup, having undertaken the role at the 2011 tournament in New Zealand.

DHL was the naming rights sponsor of the British & Irish Lions triumphant 2013 tour to Australia while it partners with English Premiership club Harlequins, South Africa’s Stormers, the Irish Rugby Football Union and a number of Sevens World Series tournaments.
