Dacia to support rugby league’s Lions return

Car manufacturer Dacia has been unveiled as the principal partner of the Great Britain Rugby League Lions team, which will return to action for the first time in 12 years in the autumn.

The length of the deal was not disclosed, but as part of the agreement, Dacia’s logo will be placed on the front of the players’ shirts.

Dacia struck the agreement with the Rugby Football League (RFL), having already established a close relationship with the sport’s governing body in England.

The car-maker is already the principal partner of England Rugby League, comprising the men’s, women’s, age-group and wheelchair national teams, in a three-year deal that will run until the end of 2021.

The agreement with the RFL has now been expanded to include the Lions team ahead of the fixtures against Tonga on October 26, New Zealand on November 2 and November 9, and Papua New Guinea on November 16.

Dacia is also the RFL’s official car partner and has served as the title sponsor of the Super League’s Magic Weekend – which comprises a series of derby matches featuring clubs from England’s domestic top division in a single stadium – since 2016.
