Copa America Centenario scores hat-trick with new partner signings

Power tools manufacturer Makita, consumer electronics company Samsung and Swiss watch brand Tag Heuer have signed up as the latest official partners of the Copa America Centenario national team football tournament, which will be staged in the United States later this year.

The Copa America Centenario Local Organising Committee has added the trio to a tournament partner list that already includes Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines, Nike, Sprint and State Farm.

Under terms of the agreement, partners will receive rights to use the tournament’s intellectual property for advertising and marketing materials, as well as packaging, consumer promotions and signage at tournament games. Partners will also be included and be visible in all media areas in the 10 tournament markets.

The partnerships were signed by the LOC and brokered by Soccer United Marketing, the marketing arm of Major League Soccer. SUM is expected to complete the tournament’s official partner line-up in the coming days.

This summer’s centennial edition of the tournament is being hosted from June 3-26 and will mark the first time it has been staged outside of South America. It will feature all 10 teams from the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), as well as six teams from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf).
