Comcast joins U.S. Ski & Snowboard on road to Pyeongchang 2018

Telecommunications company Comcast has entered into a partnership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard.

The multi-year deal names Comcast as the official cable television and communications partner of the national governing body.

As part of the agreement, Comcast’s branding will feature on the race suits of US skiers during the International Ski Federation’s (FIS) World Cup events in America later this month.

Comcast’s Xfinity brand will also appear on athletes’ uniforms at a range of other events. Additionally, Xfinity will title sponsor the women’s FIS Ski World Cup weekend at Killington Resort in Vermont on November 25-26.

Xfnity will also be an associated sponsor of the men’s FIS Ski World Cup Birds of Prey Race Week in Beaver Creek, Colorado from December 1-3.

Comcast will be granted global sponsorship rights in the cable television and telecommunications category, as well as use of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard logo and athletes and a significant brand exposure at US Grand Prix events, which serve as Olympic qualifying tournaments for freestyle skiing and snowboard.

"This global partnership with Comcast reflects the stature of our athletes and events and the impact they have in both the US and international sports market," U.S. Ski & Snowboard chief commercial officer Dan Barnett said. "It's a comprehensive approach to supporting both the athletes who compete and the events in which they participate, which is a great endorsement both here in America and around the world."

Comcast is already a partner of the United States Olympic Committee. The deal, signed in December 2016, covers the 2018 winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the 2020 summer Games in Tokyo.
