Cofidis extends commitment to La Vuelta

French financial services company Cofidis has agreed a three-year extension to its partnership with ‘Grand Tour’ cycling event the Vuelta a España.

The announcement was made today (Monday) on the first rest day of this year’s La Vuelta. Cofidis will remain a main sponsor of the race through to its 2022 edition.

Cofidis has sponsored La Vuelta for 10 years. Besides maintaining its presence as a sponsor of the stage winner’s prize, as well as of other brand elements and visibility, Cofidis will continue to develop other activities within La Vuelta.

These include Pedalón Solidario, an initiative that transforms kilometres covered on stationary bikes in the Parque Vuelta of each stage into money donated to corporate social responsibility projects liked to cycling through the Alberto Contador Foundation.

The financial entity is also the engine behind La Vuelta Junior Cofidis, an educational-sporting project that aims to promote road safety education, the use of bicycles and healthy lifestyle habits among Spanish school students.

The program, which has already trained 225,000 children over the past nine years, has the support of the Young Sports Foundation and several other companies that are committed to cycling, such as La Vuelta, the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), the Professional Cyclist Association (PCA) and the Alberto Contador Foundation.

Cofidis has a substantial investment in cycling sponsorship. Along with La Vuelta, it is also title sponsor of UCI Professional Continental team Cofidis Solutions Crédits. In Spain, it sponsors the Spanish Royal Cycling Federation (RFEC), as well as events linked to cycling including Festibike and Madrid e-bike City.

Since 2018, it has supported the Cofidis Team of Paralympic Cycling Promises along with the Spanish Paralympic Committee.
