The Rising Pune Supergiants Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket franchise has unveiled a sponsorship deal with agricultural food producer Cargill Foods India.
The company, which owns brands such as Gemini and Sweekar sunflower oil, will serve as the team’s principal sponsor.
Under the agreement, the Gemini logo will appear on the leading side of the players’ caps and helmets.
The company’s chief marketing officer, Neelima Burra, said: “The last five years have seen viewership of cricket by housewives increasing, and now around 30 per cent of women watch cricket.”
Indian national team star Mahendra Singh Dhoni (pictured) will captain the Supergiants, which are one of the two new franchises in the IPL this season.
