The National Basketball Association's New Orleans Pelicans have partnered with financial technology firm Cardless to launch the first team-branded credit card.
Pelicans fans can earn points redeemable for statement credits, gift cards, game tickets, player-signed jerseys, and exclusive experiences.
Additionally, cardholders receive 10 per cent off merchandise and concessions purchases at Smoothie King Center.
"It's an exciting day for Cardless and Pelicans fans. We are thrilled to be launching this partnership with such a great team and its amazing supporters," said Cardless co-founder and president Michael Spelfogel.
The San Francisco-based Cardless has previously made branded cards for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, Major League Baseball's Miami Marlins, and Premier League club Manchester United.
Investors include Drive by DraftKings, the sports and entertainment-focused venture capital firm powered in part by the prominent gaming company.
Pelicans partner with BetRivers Sportsbook
The Pelicans have also signed a sponsorship deal with the US-based online casino and sports betting operator Rush Street Interactive and its flagship brand, BetRivers Sportsbook.
As part of the agreement, BetRivers signage appears throughout the Smoothie King Center including the front row of courtside seats.
The premium Chairman's Club, for courtside ticket holders, has been rebranded to become the BetRivers Chairman Lounge and updated with live odds boards.
"New Orleans and Louisiana are home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and it was important for us to partner with an online sportsbook such as BetRivers that delivers the high-quality experience that these fans expect and deserve," said Dennis Lauscha, Pelicans president. "We appreciate the support of RSI and BetRivers and look forward to their increased presence in the Smoothie King Center."
BetRivers is one of six sportsbook operators to have gained an online sports betting license in Louisiana.
