Cardiff wins government backing through new sponsorship

Cardiff City has agreed a sponsorship package with the Welsh government worth in excess of £100,000 (€117,000/$152,000) to promote tourism in Wales during its debut season in football’s English Premier League.

Under the agreement the Canton Stand at the Cardiff City Stadium will be re-named the Croeso Stand. Croeso is the Welsh language word for “welcome”.

Visit Wales branding will appear on pitch-side advertising boards, stadium screens, outside the ground and in its car park.

All associated branding and advertising will be in place for Cardiff’s first home game of the season against Manchester City on August 25. The match will be shown live by UK pay-television broadcaster Sky Sports.
