South African football club Cape Town City has been hit with a fine after the Premier Soccer League (PSL), organiser of domestic competitions, ruled that it entered into a shirt sponsorship deal without its consent.

City announced financial services group FNB as its new main sponsor on August 1, but immediately drew the ire of the PSL which claimed the deal infringed on its sponsorship contract with Nedbank, which puts its name to the country’s top knockout cup competition.
