Brunel backs team entry for Volvo Ocean Race

Dutch project management and consultancy firm Brunel International will make its third appearance in the Volvo Ocean Race sailing event as a team sponsor in 2014-15.

Brunel made its debut in the 1997-98 Race as BrunelSunergy and returned for the 2005-06 editon, which was won by Dutch counterpart ABN Amro One.

Team Brunel is the fourth team to announce its participation for 2014-15, joining all-female crew Team SCA, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and the Chinese challenger Team Dongfeng.

Vinyl floor coverings manufacturer Moduleo, a division of the IVC Group, will be Team Brunel’s secondary sponsor.

Dutch sailor Bouwe Bekking will skipper Team Brunel in his record-equalling appearance at the Volvo Ocean Race.

Bekking, who has fallen short of victory in two previous campaigns as skipper, will match the achievement of Swede Roger Nilson as the only man to have competed seven times in the race, nearly 30 years after his debut in 1985-86.
