Brisbane Roar enlists Griffith University for Champions League bid

Australian A-League football champion Brisbane Roar has announced educational institution Griffith University as its principal partner for its 2015 Asian Champions League campaign.

Griffith University will benefit from front-of-shirt branding in the Roar’s six group stage matches over the next 10 weeks.

Brisbane Roar has been drawn alongside Chinese Super League team Beijing Guoan, South Korea’s two-time Asian champion Suwon Bluewings and 2007 Champions League winner Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan’s J-League.

“Griffith University is very proud to be one of Australia’s foremost sporting universities with a long history of supporting high-level sports and sports performers,” Professor Sarah Todd, pro vice-chancellor (international) at Griffith University, said. “This partnership provides further opportunity to do this on an international level and it is also a very visible way of Griffith signalling its deep engagement with Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Asia.”

Coffeehouse chain The Coffee Club is Brisbane Roar’s principal partner and regular shirt sponsor under an agreement that runs until the end of the current 2014-15 season.
