BlackBerry pushes BBM through Mercedes partnership

Smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry has adapted its sponsorship agreement with the Mercedes Formula One team to promote its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service.

Tying in with the launch of BBM for iPhone and Android users, the Mercedes cars driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will bear the BBM branding.

The logo will run on Mercedes’ cars for the seven remaining races of the 2013 season – namely on the chassis and front-of-headrests slots that BlackBerry’s branding previously occupied.

The BlackBerry logo will remain on the headrest and across the team’s kit and trackside infrastructure.

Hamilton and Rosberg currently lie third and sixth in the 2013 drivers’ world championship standings.
