Betway weighs in with Froch-Groves Wembley rematch

Online betting and casino company Betway has signed a title sponsorship agreement with promoter Matchroom Sport for the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation super-middleweight world title rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves.

Champion Froch prevailed over Groves with a controversial ninth-round stoppage when the fighters met in Manchester last November and the British duo will face off once again at Wembley Stadium on May 31 in the first boxing event to be held at England’s national football stadium since it was rebuilt in 2007.

Bob Dutnall, executive director at Betway, said: “This is undoubtedly one of the biggest fights in British boxing history, with a rivalry, strength, and focus that has not only captured the attention of avid boxing fans, but has stirred the interest of sports fans around the world. This sponsorship is another step in our developing commitment to supporting world class sporting action and reinforces our position as one of the pre-eminent brands in online sports betting.”

Additionally, Betway has secured the naming sponsorship for Matchroom’s next major boxing promotion this Saturday, when former light-heavyweight world title challenger Tony Bellew steps up to the cruiserweight division for the first time to face Russia’s Valery Brudov in a Liverpool homecoming. The fight will be broadcast live in the UK by pay-television broadcaster BSkyB.
