Betway moves into snooker with dual deal

Online betting company Betway has been announced as the title sponsor of World Snooker’s Shoot-Out and World Seniors Championship.

The two tournaments will run back-to-back next week at Blackpool Tower in England and will be televised live in the UK by pay-television broadcaster Sky Sports.

On March 2-3, the World Seniors Championship will feature Steve Davis defending his title.

The Shoot-Out runs from March 4-6 and boasts 64 of the world’s leading players, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump (pictured) and reigning world champion Mark Selby, in a one-frame knockout event.

World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn is also the founder of the Matchroom Sport agency. Betway has an established relationship with Matchroom as the title sponsor of its Premier League Darts and World Cup of Pool properties, while it also backed the promoter’s high-profile boxing world title bout between Carl Froch and George Groves at Wembley Stadium last year.
