Barcelona targets Southeast Asian market with SHB deal

Spanish Liga football team Barcelona has agreed a regional sponsorship deal with Vietnamese commercial banking group SHB.

The partnership names SHB the club’s first-ever banking partner in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The length of the deal was not disclosed.

SHB will embark on a number of business ventures in the territories and will develop a range of co-branded bank cards. Various fan activities will also be organised, with supporters to be given the chance to visit Camp Nou, Barcelona’s home stadium.

Manel Arroyo, vice-president of marketing and communication at Barcelona, said: “The signing of this new regional sponsorship deal reaffirms our interest in increasing our presence in this continent and also reflects how our club is gaining notable levels of popularity in this strategic zone, which is encouraging us to continue focusing our presence in Southeast Asia.”
