AT&T tees up Pebble Beach Pro-Am extension

US telecommunications company AT&T has reached a deal with golf’s PGA Tour for a 10-year renewal of its title sponsorship of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tournament.

AT&T has backed the event since 1986 and the latest agreement runs through 2024, taking the partnership into a fifth decade.

Professional golfers, celebrities and business leaders will team up to compete for a $6.6m (€4.86m) purse when the 2014 edition takes place on February 3-9.

The Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has an estimated broadcasting reach of 945 million households in more than 225 countries and territories, granting significant brand exposure to AT&T through network and cable broadcasts, promotions spots, news coverage, press and media conferences, in-market promotional rights and technology integration throughout the tournament.

Since its inception in 1937, the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has raised more than $110m for charitable causes.
