The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) has announced that camera manufacturer GoPro is to become a sponsor of the ASP World Championship Tour and ASP Big Wave World Tour.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but GoPro will become the exclusive camera sponsor of both ASP events.
ASP will also integrate GoPro content into event coverage. This will include the ‘GoPro Breakdown’ feature, a new exclusive wave preview captured on camera by an ASP athlete to give fans an insight into the waves.
Select events will also feature GoPro cameras mounted on athletes’ boards during competition. Five ASP Tour stops will also host video contests where athletes will be rewarded for capturing unique content during competition or free surfs.
The 2014 ATP World Championship Tour will begin on March 1.
