German financial services company Allianz has entered into a partnership with SC DHfk Leipzig, which plays in the country’s top-tier Handball Bundesliga competition.
Allianz has agreed an initial two-year partnership, which will cover the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Bundesliga seasons. The deal names Allianz as a gold partner and the official insurer of the team. It will receive brand exposure on the club’s playing jerseys.
The company will also serve as a presenting partner of Leipzig’s schools project, which encourages children across the region to join sports clubs.
Allianz’s backing will allow the team to incorporate more schools into the initiative, while students will be given the chance to attend Bundesliga games and handball training camps. Leipzig players will also take part in a digital media campaign that will focus on youth development.
Leipzig finished the 2015-16 Bundesliga season in 11th place.
