Mauritius-based commercial banking group AfrAsia Bank has secured title sponsorship rights to the country’s new golf tournament, the first tri-sanctioned event endorsed by the Sunshine, European and Asian Tours.
The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, which is expected to draw top performing golfers from each of the three tours, will be played at the Heritage Golf Club from May 7-10, 2015. The total prize fund of €1m ($1.32m) is the highest purse ever to be paid out for a tournament held in Mauritius.
AfrAsia Bank will sponsor the tournament alongside Heritage Resorts, Rogers, Anahita Mauritius, Villas Valriche, Domaine de Bel Ombre, Air Mauritius and Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
