Atkins capitalises on Olympic record to prise open new markets

WHEN UK ENGINEERING firm Atkins signed on with LOCOG as a tier 3 sponsor in 2009, the deal looked a good one for the Games organiser which would otherwise have had to pay top dollar for design, civil and structural engineering services. Now, having delivered its part under budget and ahead of schedule, the company is preparing to cash in on the exposure. Although 45 per cent of its sales are made in the UK, its growth is likely to come from the Middle East, Asia and America where higher infrastructure spending is planned.
